The Tübingen Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital are part of the University of Excellence Tübingen. They provide medical services at the highest level and cover the entire spectrum of modern medicine, research, teaching and clinical care.
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a position in the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) as a
available immediately and will be filled on a salaried basis.
The position is made available for a period of six years according to § 50 Abs. 2, Satz 1, Nr. 5 of the Baden-Württemberg state law covering higher education and specifically the promotion of highly gifted junior researchers.
The candidate should be specialist in psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy or specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy. Competences and commitment in research on and treatment of psychosomatic and/or somatic psychological interaction are expected. The professorship is associated with clinical duties in the function as a senior physician within the department.
The Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy is an integral part of the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) as well as of the Competence Center for Eating Disorders Tübingen (KOMET). Moreover, the department is closely involved with the research focus areas neurosciences, vascular medicine and diabetes as well as care research and prevention. In addition, there are close links to four more German Centers for Health Research (DZG). These structures offer ideal prerequisites for translational research depending on the candidate’s focus area.
In the field of teaching, comprehensive experience evaluated as outstanding and commitment are expected, as well as active design of lectures and other teaching formats, particularly in view of innovative curricula in the degree programs taught at the Tübingen Faculty of Medicine. The position has a teaching load of nine hours per week during the semester.
Required qualifications include a license to practice medicine, a board certification for psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy or for psychiatry and psychotherapy acquired in Germany or an international certification recognized as equivalent by the Medical Council of Baden-Württemberg, as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
