Description of the research activity:

The 'Tecnologo/Tecnologa' will perform tasks in support of the research activities listed below. The research project is in the area of Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS), which include huge amounts of data about population cohorts. GWAS aim at finding significant associations between phenotypes and genetic variants. While a part of such data is static, the association between genetic variants and phenotypes change if a subset of a cohort is selected, and hence need to be re-computed. The aim of this project is to design and develop an efficient data model and indexing structure to support a dynamic computation of significant associations for subsets of the data. The indexing structure should significantly reduce the computational burden of association calculations while maintaining high accuracy, thereby supporting explorative data analytics over dynamically generated subsets of the data.
