Tietoja työnantajasta

The Gothenburg Physics Centre coordinates cooperation between five departments: Applied Physics, Earth and Space Sciences, Fundamental Physics, Microtechnology and Nanoscience at Chalmers University of Technology, and Physics at Gothenburg University. This involves about 200 professors, 200 researchers with a PhD degree, 140 graduate students, and 550 undergraduate students. Our overreaching aim is to promote the subject of physics in Göteborg by a wide variety of initiatives. These include:

  • Sharing information about courses, seminars, visits, open positions, grants, prizes and other activities at the different departments.
  • A common series of general physics colloquia to give all Göteborg physicists the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of physics.
  • A series of lunch-time popular talks, "Lunch Bunch",  on various physics and non-physics topics of general interest to both teachers and students.
  • Cooperation on issues related to undergraduate teaching, to ensure that teachers, classrooms and other resources are used as efficiently as possible.
  • A common catalogue of B.Sc. thesis projects offered at the different departments.
  • Cooperation on Masters programs, to provide students with backgrounds from different Bachelor programs, both in Göteborg and elsewhere, a wide choice of high quality programs to choose from.
  • Cooperation on issues related to graduate level admissions and education.
  • A series of talks on the non-academic job market by professionals with a physics background aimed at undergraduate students.
  • Participation in the Gothenburg Science Festival and other outreach activities for high school students and the general public.
  • Participation in the organization of the Swedish physics olympiads.
  • Awarding the Göteborg Lise Meitner prize, an annual award for outstanding contributions by an internationally leading physicist.
  • Supporting the association of physics graduate students.
  • Social activites to promote networking between teachers and students.
