About the FSTM

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine.

Your role

Four new Bachelors in specialised Nursing sciences (Anesthesia/Ressuscitation, Surgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry) started in 2023.The Bachelor in General Nursing Care was launched in 2024. In September 2025, the Bachelor in Midwifery and the Bachelor in Radiology will start.

All of these academic Bachelors combine theoretical training using the latest technology with practical training in hospitals, clinics, or outpatient clinics in collaboration with various institutes in the country and foreign partners.

In this context, the University is recruiting one Research scientist in Nursing Science.


Your Responsibilities:

The Research Scientist in Nursing Science will be attached to the University on a full-time basis. S/he will have to report to the Directors of the Programs and contribute directly to the development and the excellence of the new Bachelors' of Science in Nursing.The academic part will be divided between teaching (180 TU/year) and research:

Teaching: The holder of the position will contribute to theoretical and practical teaching and conduct evaluation of the course. More precisely, the physical presence of students in medicine, biology, nursing, radiology and midwifery on Belval Campus provides us with the possibility of establishing common courses, in order to help students discovering and understanding the specificities of their discipline-specific training at a very early stage of their education.

Research: The candidate will be responsible for developing his/her own research program and contribute to the Nursing Education Research Programs (NERP) in collaboration with internal partners on Belval Campus (Faculties and Interdisciplinary Centres) and with external national and international partners.

Coordination: The candidate will support the coordination of one of the Bachelors of specialisation by contributing to establish the teaching staff, the course schedules, the teaching programme in close contact with the Director of the study , the study program administrators and the project officers.

Your profile

  • Holder of a nursing degree, a master's in nursing science or public health, and a doctorate (PhD) in nursing science or public health with a recognized reputation and research expertise based on the quality of his/her research work as evidenced by publications in the field of nursing science
  • A clinical experience in either Surgery/Périopérative care, Anesthesia /ressuscitation or Psychiatry is a strong asset
  • A plus if the candidate is an Accredited Educator in BLS, ALS, EPALS and preferably NLS and ETC courses from the European Resuscitation Council
  • Experience in nursing education, including theoretical teaching and supervision of trainees
  • A min of 3 years clinical experience is required
  • Experience in nursing research
  • Connection to nursing education or public health departments in universities abroad
  • Collaboration or membership with European Nursing Societies
  • Experience in simulation training is a plus
  • Linguistic capacities: fluency in English and French is required. German would be an added value
  • Soft skills: teamplayer, leadership, integrity, reliability, ability to work in a multicultural environment
