JOB DESCRIPTION

Position of Research Manager in the field of Experimental Aerodynamics within the Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering (A&M)  Research Unit (Faculty of Applied Sciences).

ACTIVITIES

The research manager (M/F/X) will be in charge of the aerodynamic wind tunnel laboratory at the University of Liège (https://www.wind-tunnel.uliege.be) in collaboration with its academic director.

He/she will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Operational management of the laboratory (planning, maintenance, instrumentation)
  • Participation in research activities (setting up projects, following researcher activities)
  • Responsible for industrial activities
  • Support for teaching activities in the field of experimental aerodynamics
  • Financial management of the laboratory
  • Participation of the laboratory in international research networks
  • Participation in promotional and communication activities
  • Other services to the university community.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED / PROFILE

  • Hold a doctoral degree with a thesis in a field related to experimental aerodynamics.
  • Be capable of developing and conducting research projects in collaboration with other academics
  • Demonstrate a high level of research expertise, with international experience being an added additional advantage
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Applications will be pre-selected on the basis of the candidate's application by a selection committee created by the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Successful candidates will then be invited to an audition to present their vision for the scientific, educational and service management of the laboratory. It will be followed by a general discussion with the selection committee.

  • A document presenting the vision of the laboratory's management through its different missions (research, teaching, industrial services) (max. 5 pages)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The appointment will be for a period of two years, renewable once, and may lead to a permanent appointment following an evaluation or will be permanent from the outset for candidates with long-term teaching and research experience in a context equivalent to that defined in this call for proposals.
