The Faculty of Information Technology, together with the Faculty of Education and Psychology, is seeking to recruit Grant Writer starting August, 1, 2025, or as soon as possible after that. The position is in effect until further notice.

Grant Writer works with research teams to build strong funding applications.

Tasks include 

  • Preparing funding and collaboration proposals with researchers and evaluating draft proposals prepared by researchers (e.g. for content coverage and accuracy of description and justification). 
  • Gathering information and building a synthesis of relevant information on the research idea (e.g. carrying out an evaluation by consulting different sources and generating information to support the content orientation of the application).
  • Use and develop structuring tools for the preparation and evaluation of technical aspects of applications
  • Take responsibility for scheduling application processes and preparing application elements on time (e.g. preparing documents in cooperation with partners and liaising with relevant bodies)
  • Cooperate with researchers, as appropriate, in the post-submission follow-up and possible project preparation phase

Who we are looking for

The position of Grant Writer requires an applicable doctoral degree or other relevant education and experience, knowledge of research funding in the fields represented by the faculties, a proven track record of applying for research funding in the field, and scientific research work. The position also requires good interpersonal and communication skills, excellent digital platform skills, teamwork, and organisational skills. Previous experience in research support, management, and evaluation, as well as experience in collaboration, applying for EU Horizon funding (and similar calls), networking, and evidence of project expertise and management, would be an asset. 

A six-month trial period will be used at the beginning of employment.

The salary for Grant Writer is determined based on the task-specific demand level 5-6 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff. The salary range will be approximately 3800-4900 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

  2. A short and informal motivation/cover letter (max 2 pages), including your research interests, career goals and previous experience and merits in relation to the qualifications for this position.
  3. A numbered list of all scientific publications and other publications showing the applicant's ability and merits for the position using the guidelines of the Research Council of Finland.
  4. Research development plan: a short written summary (maximum 2 pages) of the applicant's own research merits, research management and research funding application (what kind of application instruments, in what groups and what kind of successes) and a mission-related plan and vision of how the applicant's current and future activities support research at the University of Jyväskylä and international cooperation in research applications.  
  5. Degree certificate (highest degree).

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä is the first and largest in its field in Finland. The mission of the faculty is to create a science-based digital future. In research, education, and stakeholder collaboration, the faculty combines comprehensively the viewpoints of technology, information, organizations, business, and people.  Teaching is given both in Finnish and in English.
