Full Professor (f/m/d)

for the subject area of
Biological Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience
(reference number: P601/25).

This is full-time permanent position with lifelong tenure as a civil servant. The Department of Human and Health Sciences comprises the subject areas of psychology, public health, as well as nursing and sports sciences. The Institute of Psychology (IfP) has nine professorships and approx. 600 students.

The current professorship is embedded in the IfP and aims to add its expertise in the field of biological psychology to its portfolio alongside an empirical-behavioral science orientation. With a focus on cognitive neuroscience, we are seeking an internationally renowned scientist with expertise and experience in the application of neuroimaging techniques.

Job profile and requirements
We are searching for a scientifically outstanding member of the research community with excellent pedagogical and organizational skills who will promote the subject of Psychology at the University of Bremen. Together with a team of colleagues, the successful applicant will represent Biological Psychology in all its breadth by way of research and teaching in the Psychology degree programs. 

We expect an independent research profile with international visibility and contributions to key topics of biological psychology, primarily with a focus on cognitive neuroscience. This profile should demonstrate expertise and experience in the use of structural and/or functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Research excellence should be reflected, among others, in publications in high-ranking international journals, awards or positions in professional societies as well as in an enduring success and above-average commitment in the acquisition of third-party funding. The potential to connect with the main research areas of the research groups at the Institute of Psychology and with one or more of the university's main high-profile areas (in particular Minds, Media, Machines and/or Health Sciences) is desirable. Beyond this, opportunities for collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS exist. The professorship is intended to assist young scientists in a committed and responsible manner on their path towards increasing scientific independence. Participation in the transformation process towards an open scientific culture / open science is advantageous. 
In teaching, the professorship will contribute to the polyvalent and professionally recognized Bachelor's degree program in Psychology with a research focus and in the Master's degree program in Psychology. Participation in the interdisciplinary M.Sc. in Neurosciences is equally possible. The ability to offer courses in German and/or in English is expected; knowledge of one of the languages required for this should be acquired after two years at the latest. The University of Bremen expects its lecturers to be easily accessible to students, to provide support on an equal footing and to adopt a student-centered teaching approach.
Applicants should be willing to undergo further training in higher education didactics and actively participate in the further development of the teaching profile and the psychology degree programs. 

The future jobholder will help foster a collegial, team-oriented work atmosphere and actively participate in academic self-administration. Experience in administrative functions and academic policy networking is highly welcome. The working group of the future jobholder will be assigned 1.0 to 1.5 full-time equivalent researchers (to be appointed by the jobholder). Furthermore, a full-time lecturer in the field of biological psychology and a technical assistant will be assigned to the position. The professorship aims to enrich university MRI research at the research-site Bremen. In addition, the Institute of Psychology has access to a large number of other in-house laboratories (e.g. eye tracking, behavioral laboratories, diagnostic laboratories, VR/AR laboratories and EEG and fNIRS laboratories) via collaboration with its respective colleagues.

Application process
We will consider your application should you possess a university degree in psychology or psychology-related subjects (relevant to the professorship) and an outstanding doctoral dissertation in a relevant subject area. Applicants will have demonstrated their exceptional scientific qualification and pedagogical-didactic suitability by virtue of a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements (e.g. as part of an assistant/associate professorship or through habilitation-equivalent publications). 

Appointments are made in accordance with §18 BremHG and §116 BremBG.
