About the position

At the University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science, there is a vacancy for a temporary 100% position as Chief Engineer/Senior Engineer/Department Engineer at the Energy Laboratories with commencement as soon as possible. The duration of the position is until 31.12.2027. The position is linked to the Department of Engineering Sciences, and the workplace is Campus Grimstad.

The energy laboratories are used by students at bachelor's, master's and PhD levels, as well as by external customers from the business community. The position includes special responsibility and involvement into the battery lab, thermal analysis lab, climate lab, hydrogen lab and the combustion lab.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory responsibility for specified laboratories
  • Operation, training and support on scientific equipment (e.g. pyrolysis furnace, TGA/DSC, TGA-MS, CHNSO analysis, BET, XRD, Karl Fischer, ash melt microscope 
  • Assistance in teaching and student projects
  • Structure of experimental set-up and measurement and control systems
  • Teaching in practical measurement and instrumentation techniques
  • Assignments with external partners
  • Contribution to the HSE work at the department
  • Follow-up of the chemical inventory and gas inventory

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant subject area for the position of department engineer
  • Masters's degree or higher in a relevant subject area for the position of chief/senior engineer
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proficient in English (written/orally)

Desired qualifications

  • Practical experience from laboratory work and documented experience with the instruments mentioned under the tasks

Personal qualities and suitability for the position will be emphasized. 

The working language at the University of Agder is Norwegian. The successful candidate must be proficient in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state 90.301, code 1181 Chief engineer, NOK 720 000-770 000 gross per year, 1087 Senior engineer NOK 660 000-720 000 gross per year, 1085 Department engineer NOK 600 000-660 000 gross per year. For particularly well-qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. From the salary, statutory contributions go to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
