DESCRIPTION

The general topic is the metabolic engineering of algal hydrogen production. This project is part of a large interdisciplinary consortium with Belgian (Pr Claire Remacle), Japanese (Pr Genji Kurisu) and German (Pr Thomas Happe, Bochum) partners. In this project, we will use synthetic biology tools to achieve and optimize the production of an active hydrogenase in the green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. This project combines expertise in molecular biology, protein biochemistry for in vitro characterization of the hydrogenase and associated maturation factors, and physiology for analysis of the engineered strains.

For these reasons, applicants should have expertise in biochemical and cell biological techniques. Experience in metallocofactor biogenesis, microalgal physiology and/or synthetic biology would be an advantage. Candidates should be highly motivated, have good communication skills and be able to work independently. The successful candidate will be required to interact regularly with the other members of the Japanese/European consortium.

TERMS AND TENURE

This two-year position will be based in Nancy within the Tree-Microbe Interactions (IAM) research unit (https://mycor.nancy.inra.fr/IAM/, University of Lorraine, France). The duration cannot exceed 24 months.
