Responsibilities

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Research Manager to join our dynamic team. This key role involves leading research and development initiatives, managing multi-partner projects, and coordinating LIMNI's activities to enhance collaboration among academia and industry. The ideal candidate will be passionate about integrating novel materials and technologies and possess strong organizational and networking skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Bridge Building: Act as a catalyst to connect consortium members, fostering dynamic collaborations and partnerships both within KU Leuven and with external stakeholders.
  • Consortium Development: Facilitate the assembly of research teams and consortia by bringing together experts from diverse fields to tackle innovative projects.
  • Project ideation, proposal preparation, co-ordination and follow-up: thereby overseeing and expanding the LIMNI project portfolio
  • Scouting for valorisation paths
  • Grant Support: Stimulate and support members in preparing and writing grant proposals, providing strategic guidance and resources to enhance funding success.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) and ZAP staff to mature research ideas and develop new strategic themes that align with LIMNI's mission.
  • External Networking: Expand and maintain a robust network of industry and academic partners, promoting LIMNI’s visibility and fostering impactful collaborations.
  • Internal Communication: Ensure effective communication within LIMNI to coordinate activities, share information, and promote cross-disciplinary interactions.
  • Event Organization: Organize seminars, workshops, and networking events to facilitate knowledge exchange and foster innovative discussions.
  • Represent LIMNI at national and international events and conferences.
  • Financial Sustainability: You will be responsible for the longer-term financial sustainability of the position and LIMNI.

Profile

  • A motivated individual with a PhD in Microelectronics, Materials Chemistry, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A self-driven individual who takes the initiative to build bridges between different disciplines within KU Leuven and between the university and external partners.
  • A passion for novel materials, physics, chemistry, and technology, and willingness to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience with (or interest in) setting up and managing multi-partner research projects.
  • Experience in cleanroom fabrication is required.
  • Proficient in writing scientific publications and working on international scientific projects.
  • An organized and detail-oriented coordinator with excellent management and planning skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
