Job description

Nonconvex QCQP optimization theory has been developed recently with several new avenues for further theoretical and applied research. Some of these recent theoretical developments deserve further attention to be adjusted for solving real-world problems. The electricity-market area provides a rich domain of applications for recent developments in the nonconvex QCQP optimization theory. The short-term market models have now more nonconvex quadratic terms which need to optimize in a time frame much shorter than what we had before. Besides, the electricity prices need to be calculated much more efficient given these level of noconvexities introduced in the system. This project has three objectives: First, the recent theoretical QCQP developments will be studied and developed. Second, the new theoretical developments will be used for solving the short-term market optimization models much faster, third, the pricing models for such markets with nonconvexities will be revisited and new approaches will be developed, tested and suggested. The postdoc researcher is a part of a team working on different electricity market issues and will be involved in teaching and supervision of the PhD students.
