IRSET is a large inter- and multi-disciplinary research center dedicated to the study of the impact of the environment and occupation on human health. It is a joint research unit of Inserm, University of Rennes 1, and EHESP School of Public Health. IRSET’s missions are to decipher the biological processes and environmental factors (whether physical, chemical, biological, occupational or sociocultural) that affect human health, and to assist public health authorities in the making of informed decisions based on scientific data.
In the context of personalized medicine to make treatment decisions about patients, IRSET is looking for a junior scientist willing to create his/her own team in the field of early and predictive biomarkers in chronic diseases. A promising field is the discovery of new biomarkers from biological fluids (e.g. blood, urine), such as circulating nucleic acids, extracellular vesicles (EVs), and/or metabolic biomarkers, allowing to follow the progression of chronic diseases (including cancers) and their response/resistance to treatments.
IRSET will provide the team with a dedicated research area (bench and office), and ensure access to the technological platforms and biological resources center on the site.
IRSET has recognized expertise in a range of chronic diseases affecting the liver, the lung, and the urogenital organs, as well as in hormone-dependent tumors of breast, ovary, and prostate. IRSET owns several biocollections of patient samples that will be made available to the selected candidate for him/her to carry out research.
