As PVD Team Leader in our Engineering department, you are in the first place a specialist for this technology. You will coach a team of engineers, technicians and its partners in device manufacturing that are responsible for the hardware and process aspects of a number of pilot production machines.
What you will do
You will co-lead the PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) team that currently consists of 20 Process and Hardware Engineers and Technicians. This team is part of the FAB Engineering Group, and you will report to the DD (Deposition and Diffusion) department manager.
The PVD team supports the cutting-edge scientific research that imec is famous for by being responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all PVD tools in both our 200mm and 300mm cleanrooms, and developing and managing the processes within them. It is expected that the PVD team will continue to grow significantly in the coming years to support the ongoing expansion of imec’s state-of-the-art 300mm cleanroom.
The PVD Team Leader:
- Is responsible for the day-to-day and long-term management of the PVD team by ensuring there is sufficient and balanced engineering coverage and experience across all shifts, tools and disciplines
- Is responsible for the safety and well-being of everyone who reports to him or her
- Is responsible for driving cycle-time and quality improvements, and meeting the team’s KPIs
- Is responsible for ensuring everyone who reports to him or her receives all the necessary training to allow them to perform their function efficiently and effectively
- Represents the PVD team in various inter-departmental teams and meetings
- Works in dayshift, and up to 8 weekends per year as the FAB Engineering management representative

Who you are
- You have obtained a Master in Science or in Engineering, or the equivalent of this by having extensive industrial experience in semiconductor process or hardware maintenance engineering, including PVD or other plasma deposition techniques
- You display strong leadership skills and mindset
- You are flexible and able to rapidly react to changes in circumstances by altering your personal and/or team priorities, often at very short notice
- You are highly driven with a focus on delivering high quality results on-time, and meeting your team’s KPIs
- You are a motivator who can create and maintain a proactive ‘can do’ attitude within the team
- You have demonstrable people management experience that enables you to
- identify the relative strengths and weaknesses of all those reporting to you, and to use that to help them achieve their full potential

- You have a minimum of 10 years industrial experience in semiconductor process or hardware maintenance engineering, including PVD or other plasma deposition techniques
- Given the international character of imec, you are fluent in both verbal and written English
