ID22 is the ESRF's high resolution powder diffraction beamline allowing the study at the atomic level of the structures of all varieties of materials, crystalline or otherwise, often in situ undergoing evolution with temperature, atmosphere, time, etc.

As a post-doc you will join the ID22 team and participate in the operation and development of the beamline. You will act as local contact and assist visiting users to design, plan, set up and conduct their experiments. You will be expected to develop your own scientific programme using the powder diffraction beamline and other instruments at ESRF, as appropriate. - PhD in chemistry, physics, materials science, mineralogy, or equivalent science, obtained less than 3 years ago

- Experience with powder diffraction or other crystallographic techniques, synchrotron radiation instrumentation (or similar), diffraction data analysis, and computing are desirable

- Ability to interact with multi-disciplinary staff and facility users

- Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF) 

Contract of 18 months, renewable for a further 6 to 18-month period.
