JOB /OFFER DESCRIPTION 
This PhD position is part of a research team in holomorphic dynamics, based in Marseille and Barcelona. It works on a broad range of topics within holomorphic dynamics and its interactions with other areas of mathematics. The key topics in this project include: (1) transcendental dynamics (iteration of transcendental maps); (2) Thurston theory (geometrization of topological structure in low dimension); (3) iterative root finding methods (including Newton’s method and Weierstrass’ method, in theory and practice); and (4) symbolic dynamics and rigidity (distinction of different orbits, and different dynamical systems, in combinatorial terms).

WHAT WE OFFER: 
Salary: 2100 euros gross per month

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED RESEARCH FIELDS, REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVEL, PROFESSIONAL SKILLS, OTHER RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS (years of research experience 
The ideal candidate has a strong background in mathematics at the Master’s level and brings strong or interest in at least one of the mentioned project topics. The specific topic for the PhD project will be discussed and developed between the candidate and the advisor. 

Soft skills: Skills in English or French language.
