Professor Nicolas Berman, Aix-Marseille University, is looking for a research assistant / data analyst. The research assistant will work in collaboration with a team based in Aix-Marseille University, Geneva and Lausanne. She/he will work on projects related to development economics, political economy and international trade, and will be mostly in charge of data collection, cleaning and analysis. The research projects deal in particular with the determinants of local conflicts in developing countries, as well as with the links between income shocks and child health. They have a strong spatial component, and the data will be partly analyzed using GIS software, which the research assistant will have to get used to at the beginning of the mission. Various types of data will be handled by the research assistant – geographical data, household-level data, company-level data, etc.

The candidate should have obtained or be currently enrolled at the Master level, preferably with a specialization in statistics, economics or econometrics.
Short-term, 8 months (specific duration to be defined; possibility of part-time over a longer period). Salary: « ingénieur d’études » level, grille BIATSS. Start of the contract: September or October 2018.
