The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

Context:

The laboratories of the Department of Life Sciences and Medicine in Campus Belval are fully equipped to do experimental research in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biochemistry (focus: Cancer Research). To maintain and develop the general infrastructure of the labs, we are seeking the maternity/parental leave replacement for a research support technician.

Your Role...

  • Ensure the maintenance and development of the installation (purchase and maintenance of instruments, troubleshooting)
  • Contribute to the management of lab logistics and safety (ensure compliance with safety guidelines, waste management)
  • Support the organization of lab refurbishments and moves to other buildings
  • Ensure the management of general lab disposables and consumables
  • Be in dialog with the lab members to identify and analyze the needs, communicate with other entities of the University (LCSB lab support team, Service Infrastructure)
  • Support the development of partnership with our suppliers (contract establishment, price negotiations)

What we expect from you…

  • Bachelor degree in biology, biotechnology or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience, ideally in the scientific domain
  • Excellent organizational and management skills, highly reliable & precise work style, attention to details, multitasking capacity
  • Team player with strong relationship management skills, sense of diplomacy
  • Very good IT knowledge (e.g., administration softwares)
  • Very good communication skills in English and ideally in the other languages of the University (French, German), Luxemburgish is considered as an advantage
