The Department of Product Development in the Faculty of Design Sciences is looking for a full-time (100%) business developer for the REuseLab.

The REuseLab is a growing Impact lab within the University of Antwerp that is committed to develop knowledge to support the circular transition towards product reuse. The REuseLab aims to support the standardisation of longevity of products and provide companies with the necessary knowledge on this. More info: www.uantwerpen.be/reuse-lab  

Position

  • You look for new projects and collaborate with (sustainable ambitious) companies. You coordinate project applications and contribute to attracting external funding.
  • You support ongoing research projects in the REuseLab:
    • You support the (PhD) researchers in data collection and processing, follow-up of deadlines and in publishing and presenting the results (academic and to professional audiences).
    • You take care of the daily project management and contribute to the optimisation of the workflow within REuseLab. You are the link between all researchers and professors.
    • You communicate with and manage the external partners in the multidisciplinary projects.

Profile

  • Sustainability is key for you, and you have specific expertise in the context of life-cycle thinking, sustainable innovation, product reuse and/or longevity, repair and maintenance.
  • You have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and the necessary communication and administrative skills; you like working with people on innovations and experiments.
  • You have strong and proven affinity with both the academic and business sectors; relevant industrial experience is a strong asset.
  • You can handle projects both independently and as part of a team competently and on time; You have an entrepreneurial attitude with a strong personality and are result- and service-oriented.
  • You have pronounced communication (very good knowledge of English and preferably also Dutch) and mediation skills and are stress-resistant and flexible.
  • You hold a master's degree in product development/design sciences, economics or social sciences.  Having a PhD in the research field is not a requirement but is considered an additional asset.
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • Experience with various qualitative and quantitative research techniques is a plus.
  • Experience in attracting external research from business and government in the field of basic and applied research at both national and international levels is recommended;

What we offer

  • An open-ended employment contract, subject to positive intermediate evaluation
  • The planned start date is as soon as possible.
  • Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale for an assistant in the Contract Research Staff category (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
  • You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • You will do most of your work at the Stadscampus (Paardenmarkt 94 Antwerp) in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
