At the Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems, in the Research Unit of Micro- and Nanosensors TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 40 hours/week, in the field of nanomechanical infrared spectroscopy for environmental sensing with focus on nanoplastic detection and identification. Expected start: January 2025.

Tasks:

  • Research and project activity
  • Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
  • Cooperation and guidance of students
  • Writing a dissertation and publications
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master's or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: physics, electrical engineering, or similar
  • Skillful and responsible in experimental and theoretical work
  • Very good skills in English communication and writing
  • Interest in research in the field of optomechanics, nanoelectromechanical systems, and sensor technology as well as supervision and work with students
  • Very good communication skills and team competencies and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 3.578,80/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
