Södertörn University is a higher education institution in Stockholm that conducts education, research, and collaboration for sustainable societal development. Media Technology is an interdisciplinary subject that focuses on the design of interactive media, combining technology and design perspectives with knowledge of human interaction with digital media. Media Technology offers education at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, in fields such as game design, UX design, media production and user research. Research in the subject at Södertörn covers the design, use, and societal implications of interactive media, with a particular focus on design research and human-computer interaction. Our research is divided into four themes: Games and storytelling; Design and making; Participatory and norm critical design; and Media technology and learning.

Job description
Media Technology at Södertörn University welcomes applications for the position of postdoctoral research fellow from people who aims to help further our research. As a postdoc, you are expected to conduct autonomous research that is linked to our research activities in one or more of the following areas:
As a postdoc, your primary task is to conduct and publish research in your chosen field. You are expected to participate actively in the subject’s research environment and to collaborate with colleagues. Your duties may also include the development of research activities and participation in the academic community through work as a reviewer, external expert or lecturer. Some teaching is included in your duties, but at no more than 20 per cent of the total scope of employment. Teaching is conducted in English. Administrative duties may also occur, such as organising seminars and workshops.
As a postdoc, you will also have the opportunity to become involved in the university’s interdisciplinary research platforms. Media Technology is particularly active in the following two platforms:
Qualifications
An individual is qualified to apply for a position as a postdoctoral research fellow if they have a doctoral degree, or a qualification from abroad that is equivalent to a doctoral degree. This requirement must be fulfilled at the time the decision on employment is made.
Primary consideration should be given to someone who was awarded the above qualifications within the three years prior to the deadline for application for employment as a postdoctoral research fellow. Someone who has a doctoral degree or a qualification from abroad that is equivalent to a doctoral degree from an earlier date may be considered if there are exceptional circumstances. Exceptional circumstances are leave due to ill health, parental leave, positions of trust in trades union organisations, service in the Swedish armed forces, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical practice or other practice/commissions relevant to the subject.
For this position, a good ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing in English is required.
You must also have the personal skills necessary to do your job well and to represent the university in a way that benefits its activities.
Research expertise is demonstrated through a scholarly thesis and other scholarly publications in the relevant subject area and participation in research projects.
