Job Summary:

The SAP+D at UM6P seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Energy Efficiency in Buildings is an academic position that involves a blend of teaching, research, and service focused on advancing the field of energy-efficient design and operation of buildings. The role requires developing and delivering curriculum on sustainable building practices, conducting innovative research, securing funding, publishing findings, and mentoring students. The position also entails participating in academic governance, community outreach, and interdisciplinary collaboration to promote sustainability in the built environment. Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and have a proven track record in research, teaching, and engagement with the broader sustainability community. This role is pivotal for shaping future professionals and advancing knowledge in energy efficiency in buildings and sustainability within the built environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Development:

Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate in energy efficiency in buildings, sustainable building practices, building science, and related areas.

Supervise student projects, theses, and dissertations that focus on Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Sustainability in the Built Environment 

Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge research and practices in Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Sustainability in the Built Environment

Contribute to the development of innovative teaching methods and research approaches that advance the field of Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Sustainability in the Built Environment

Research:

Conduct original research in the field of energy efficiency in buildings, which could include topics like thermal performance, HVAC systems efficiency, renewable energy integration, building envelope innovations, and energy modeling.

Secure funding for research projects through grants and partnerships with industry, government, and academic organizations.

Publish findings in reputable academic journals and present at national and international conferences.

Administrative Duties:

Participate in the administration of academic programs related to Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Sustainability in the Built Environment.

Engage in the recruitment and retention of students.

Contribute to the development of proposals for new academic offerings in the area of energy efficiency in buildings and sustainability in built environment.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Building Science, Mechanical Engineering or Architecture with a focus on sustainability in the built environment is required.

A proven track record of teaching at the university level, along with evidence of research and publication in the field of energy efficiency of buildings. Experience with securing research funding is also highly valued.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a diverse range of students and collaborators.

A commitment to interdisciplinary research and education.
