We are looking for a highly motivated student with a strong background in molecular and cell biology, to join our team. We offer a fully funded PhD position, to work on centrosome dynamics and homeostasis of centrosome-associated proteins.

The Mikeladze-Dvali group aims to delineate mechanisms regulating centrosome dynamics within the framework of embryogenesis and development. Centrosomes are the main microtubule organizing centers of animal cells and represent signaling hubs, harboring mitotic kinases and cell cycle regulators. Centrosomes undergo dynamic changes in their size, number and material properties during the cell cycle. Precise regulation of centrosome dynamics is key for maintaining genome stability and sustaining cell proliferation. Deregulation of centrosomes is linked to diseases ranging from cancer to microcephaly and ciliopathies. The project will use the nematode C. elegans as a model system to study the regulation of centrosomal proteins during embryogenesis and will employ a broad spectrum of methods in molecular biology, genetics, quantitative live-cell imaging and biochemistry.
