The successful candidate will join a team of interdisciplinary scholars from the human and social sciences who have a shared interest in sport ethics and integrity research and policy development and critique. They will work with Professor Mike McNamee, Prof Silvia Camporesi, Prof Frank Hendricks and other colleagues from within KU Leuven to develop original interdisciplinary research in sport integrity.

The role arises out of the work the Sport Integrity programmes MAiSi (www.maisi-project.eu) funded by the Erasmus Mundus programme, and DAiSi (www.daisi-project.eu) and supported by the International Olympic Committee, Solidarity programme. It will seek to create synergies with this development and other Erasmus projects on athletes’ rights (https://playthegame.org/news/news-articles/2020/0642_athletes-and-academics-join-forces-to-open-more-avenues-for-athlete-influence/) and match fixing (http://www.cscfsport.com/integrisportnext/) currently undertaken at KU Leuven with partners across Europe. The successful candidate will be based at the FaBeR campus in Leuven.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with experience and enthusiasm in investigating the theoretical and methodological connections across the sport integrity landscape (SI).  

They will be substantially involved in article preparation and grant bidding.

Profile

  • You have earned a doctoral degree in applied ethics (including but not limited to sport ethics), philosophy, law or criminology, or other relevant social scientific field.
  • You are able to take on responsibilities and work independently.
  • You speak English fluently and have good writing skills.
  • You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team with movement scientists and medical doctors.
  • You are willing to follow Open Science principles.
  • You have familiarity with social science research methods (desirable)
  • You have experience of grant application writing (desirable)

Offer

The appointment is for 12 months starting on the 1st November 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, visa processes etc having been fulfilled.
