Job description

Division of Polymer Technology is looking for a postdoc interested in sustainable and circular polymer materials with low environmental impact. The announced position focuses on the development of green processes and polymer materials for increasing the circularity of light-emitting electrochemical cells (LEC). The project is a collaboration with Umeå University where novel LEC devices are being developed.

The work tasks include:

  • Laboratory work to develop materials that enable easier disassembly and reuse of device components, including potential replacement of fossil-based components with biobased alternatives
  • Evaluation and dissemination of the results in the form of scientific publications

This recruitement is connected to the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE, wise-materials.org). WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden and will encompass major efforts at Sweden´s foremost universities over the course of 10 years. The vision is a sustainable future through materials science.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • For the position relevant scientific expertise demonstrated by high-quality publications in international scientific journals
  • Good experimental laboratory skills

  • Collaborative abilities
  • Independence

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Research experience in polymer synthesis and characterization, material recycling, dynamic covalent chemistry, and/or light-emitting electrochemical cells or other related devices
  • The ability to inform about research and development work in written and orally

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
