YOUR TASKS

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
  • You are involved in patient-related (clinical) HIV/SIV research projects together with an international team of postdocs, PhD students and laboratory technicians. You will help developing new technologies to better characterize the mechanisms responsible for HIV persistence in ART-treated individuals
  • You are one of the internal and external point of contact for ongoing research projects in the field of HIV reservoirs
  • You bring ideas for development of projects in the field of HIV latency and HIV reservoir analysis.
  • Project management and coordination at the interface of in vitro and in vivo projects and downstream omics analyses
  • Write projects to support the funding of the lab

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Interested candidates should hold a PhD in the field of medicine, veterinarian medicine, bio-medical sciences, bio-engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, biology or any other study domain relevant to the job description.  (obtained max. 6 years ago. This term of 6 years is determined by the date written on the above-mentioned required diploma).
  • A strong background in either immunology or virology, and ideally both, is required
  • Previous experience in HIV research is an asset
  • Extensive hands-on-experience with conducting wet lab experiments in the domain of viro-immunology (e.g. flow cytometry, PCR,…) is mandatory
  • You have experience in experimental mouse work (Felasa certified).
  • You have experience in experimental design and statistical analysis
  • You have at least basic bio-informatics skills (R, Python,…), more advanced bio-informatics skills (eg. for Omics analyses) are an important asset
  • You have excellent written and oral English skills, as evidenced by prior high ranked publications.
  • You are a team player and a fluent communicator
  • You have experience in supervising students
  • You are organized, passionate about scientific research and you can work independently.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a contract of indefinite duration with a maximum term of 2 years
  •  Your contract will start on 01.01.2025
