Are you passionate about databases and efficient information systems? Do you also want to pass on your expertise and enthusiasm for database technologies in theory and practice to young talents? Then join our team, because at our university you can not only teach, but also actively research current challenges in the field of databases.

Your tasks:

  • You will represent the field "Databases" in the courses of our Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Computer Science and Business Informatics in German and English. You will also be involved in teaching basic computer science subjects.
  • You will have a strong presence at the university and supervise our students in their project work, Bachelor's and Master's theses.
  • You will be involved in applied and interdisciplinary research on topics such as query optimization and index structures.
  • You initiate/maintain collaborations with industrial partners in Germany and abroad and thus promote interdisciplinary cooperation.
  • You are a team player and willing to take on responsibility within our academic self-administration.

Your profile:

  • You have a successfully completed university degree in computer science or a related field and a relevant doctorate.
  • You have at least 5 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years outside the university sector, and have been able to gain experience in scientific and professional practice ideally in the following subject areas:
    • Design and development of information systems based on relational databases. Experience in NoSQL and distributed databases is an advantage.
    • Database technologies
    • Data warehousing

If you are invited to give a trial lecture, you will be asked to submit a teaching and research concept that meets the requirements of the position.

The position is open-ended. When first appointed to a professorship, employment is initially on a probationary civil servant basis or on a permanent employment contract with a three-year probationary period. Further employment requirements and duties are set out in §§ 67 - 69, 75 and 76 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (available at www.hmwk.hessen.de).
