Thesis subject: Exotoxin A from Pseudomonas aeruginosa at MASSIF-1: fragment screening in the era of Artificial Intelligence Pseudomonas aeruginosa is human pathogen which has been classified by the World Health Organisation as one of the three highest priority antibiotic-resistant bacterias. It is one of the leading causes of hospital-acquired-infections and was responsible for more than half a million deaths in 2019. Central to its virulence exotoxin A protein, which inactivates the host cell translational machinery leading to cell death. In this Ph.D., the successful candidate will identify compounds that modulate the activity of this enzyme using a combination of AI based virtual screening, activity assays, and high throughput x-ray crystallography on the ESRF MX beamlines. 

- Degree allowing enrollment for a PhD (such as MSc, Master 2 de Recherche, Laurea or equivalent) in biophysics, biology or physics

- Background in structural biology is desirable

- Ability to interact within a multi-disciplinary team

- Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF) 

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
