Materials science and technology are our passion. With our cutting-edge research, Empa's around 1,100 employees make essential contributions to the well-being of society for a future worth living. Empa is a research institution of the ETH Domain.

The Center for X-ray Analytics develops X-ray methodologies for understanding materials structure in materials science. Our core activities is the development X-ray based methods focusing on the evaluation of the structure – property relationship in applications such as biomedicine and space.

In the frame of an ESA project interfacing research and industrial needs, we are looking for a postdoc holding a PhD in material science, physics or chemistry, with a clear link to X-ray based analytical methods, preferably related to X-ray diffraction. The project is linked to crystalline and amorphous alloys: a) to the study of thermo-physical properties in micro-gravity, and b) to industrial processes and the establishment of the structure-property relationship. We aim to expand the labs expertise with respect to X-ray multimodalities, mainly combining X-ray diffraction with imaging methods. We expect the candidate's enthusiasm for Space sciences!
