The Institute of Musicology at the University of Vienna ranks among the largest musicological institutes in the German-speaking world. We offer a productive research climate and a stimulating working atmosphere, with excellent possibilities for continuing education.



Duration of employment: 6 year/s

Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
This position is advertised as a young scientists qualification position.
Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves
- Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
- Involvement in research projects / research studies
- International publications and presentations
- Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

Profile:
- Doctoral degree/PhD degree in Musicology (focus on Systematic Musicology)
- Professional competence in various research fields of musical acoustics (e.g. Acoustics of musical instruments, room acoustics, electroacoustics, sound synthesis and analysis, psychoacoustics, history and theory of acoustics etc.)
- Methodological competence sound measurement and analysis
- Technical competence in structure and functionality of loudspeakers and microphones
- Didactic competence
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Ability to work in a team

In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Experience of working on research projects
- Publications in renowned, subject-relevant media (peer-reviewed, depending on the professional standards)
- International presentation experience
Desirable qualifications are
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Experience of supervising students
