Endowed W2-Professorship in Haemostaseology

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen invites applications at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Transfusion Medicine and affiliated with the Department Internal Medicine II (Haematology, Oncology, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology) for an

available immediately. The position will be filled on a salaried basis and is made available for a period of five years according to section 50 subsection 2 sentence 1 no. 5 of the Baden-Württemberg state law covering higher education and specifically the promotion of highly gifted junior researchers. 

Comprehensive knowledge of clinical and diagnostic haemostaseology and innovative experimental approaches, particularly in haemophilia, are expected. Experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with coagulation disorders is required. A particular clinical focus should be to develop a concept for the further development of the Haemophilia Center at the University Hospital. Furthermore, internationally recognized scientific achievements as well as innovative experimental models and procedures in the field of congenital and acquired coagulopathies and their specific therapeutic strategies are expected. 

A willingness for interdisciplinary and scientific cooperation with the institutes of the Faculty of Medicine, the UKT and the Center for Clinical Transfusion Medicine is required. The requirements also include collaboration in the Faculty’s key research areas (e.g. diabetes and vascular medicine) and the associated research networks. 

Committed and active participation in teaching in the degree programs of the Faculty of Medicine is expected. As this is an endowed professorship, the teaching commitment is 2 semester hours per week (SWS). 

Required qualifications include a completed doctorate and a license to practice medicine. A board certification in transfusion medicine acquired in Germany or an international equivalent recognized as equivalent by the Medical Council of Baden-Württemberg is desirable; if this is not yet available at the time of the successful application, the acquisition of the board certification is part of the professorship. A specialist title in haemostaseology is desirable. Further requirements are postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
