Applications are invited for this position in the Natural and Medical Sciences Research Center, University of Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman. The position is available immediately.

Responsibilities:

• The potential candidate will be expected to perform multi-step organic synthesis of pharmaceutical or chemical intermediates and products.
• Perform total synthesis of small molecules.
• Design new synthetic methodologies related to pharmaceutical industry.
• Preferred experience in pharmaceutical industry.
• Apply modern synthetic techniques to prepare structurally complex natural products.
• Have laboratory skills to ensure the product purity and quality.
• Manage work assignments productively and deliver high-quality results consistently.
• The candidate is expected to carryout out experiments, analyze data, prepare presentations, and manuscripts.

Required qualifications

The applicant is expected to have the following:

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or similar with 5 or more years of industrial experience in multi-step organic synthesis and process implementation.
• Independent career in Synthetic Organic Chemistry.
• Strong knowledge in spectral interpretation including NMR, MS and X-ray.
• Strong skills in grants writing.
• Outstanding English skills.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work in a team
