Your Responsibilities

  • Work on a dissertation related to the fellowship research project “Cooking, Gender, and Culinary Narratives: Global Perspectives on Cookbooks and Cultural Heritage,” situated in the area of Contemporary History (Chair of Professor Christiane Berth)
  • Close collaboration with all fellows involved in the project (communication, providing and receiving feedback, mutual support, and related activities)
  • Participation in the organization of various event formats during the visits of the external fellows
  • Contribution to publication activities in the context of the research project
  • Help organize various event formats during the visits of external fellows
  • Participation in activities of the research core area “Trans-Mediterranean Entanglements” at the Faculty of Humanities

Your Profile

  • Successfully completed master’s degree with very good results in history or a related field (especially ethnology/cultural and social anthropology, literary studies, or Latin American studies)
  • Strong scholarly curiosity and interest in engaging with current interdisciplinary research questions in gender studies and digital food studies
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills (Level C1)
  • Good to very good Spanish skills (from Level B2 upwards)
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for one’s own work
  • Strong teamwork and organizational skills
  • Experience abroad
  • Experience in organizing (academic) events (desirable)
  • Knowledge of gender history and/or the history of food and consumption (desirable)

  • PDF version of your master’s thesis

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52.865,40 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
