Postdoctoral position in the area of environmental biogeochemistry

Description

We are seeking to fill a 1.5-year postdoctoral position in the area of environmental biogeochemistry at Lorraine University, Nancy, France.

Our LUE (The Lorraine University of Excellence) project SIGMABIO, is aimed at understanding how bacterial activities impact the mobility and bioavailability of trace metals associated with iron oxides. Additionally, we will focus on how these bacterial processes affect the magnetic signature of the metal bearing mineral.

We are offering a Postdoc position in an interdisciplinary, international, young and dynamic team of geo-microbiologist, microbiologists, geochemists and physicist. This position provides an opportunity for the candidate to work on a challenging topic that combines various fields and techniques within environmental sciences. The well-suited applicant must have a solid background in environmental microbiology and biogeochemistry. Candidates with strong proficiency in molecular biological techniques and statistic analysis are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in environmental microbiology, geo-microbiology, biogeochemistry or a related field at the time of the appointment. Applicants must be highly motivated and have strong research experience and a publication record in the fields of environmental microbiology or biogeochemistry. Requirements are: excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work in a team; student mentoring; commitment to the development of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. The start date is the 15th of October or as soon as possible thereafter.
