The team "Hematopoietic Tissue Aging" is located at the Gustave Roussy Institute (Villejuif) within the INSERM U1287 unit whose research is dedicated to the study of stem cells and the development of myeloid malignancies.
The team explores the impact of aging on myelomonocyte differentiation. We investigate the molecular mechanisms that drive myelomonocytic expansion under the effect of intrinsic (gene modifications, deregulation of the non-coding genome, epigenetic evolution) and extrinsic variations. We are exploring the evolution of these processes in the normal context, during stress and in a pathological context: chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), a myeloid hemopathy typically associated with aging.
The project is at the crossroads of different fields: oncology, stem cells, immunology. The aim of the project is to identify the epigenetic mechanisms that regulate the expression of endogenous retroviruses, their relationship with the immune response and the role of these sequences in leukemic development, resistance to treatment and the anti-tumor immune response. We are working on primary cells from healthy elderly subjects and CMML patients and in mouse models of CMML. The techniques used range from cell culture to mouse models and large-scale genomics.
The candidate should have an interest in multidisciplinary approaches requiring expertise in hematology, immunology or stem cells, animal models and genomics. Experience in bioinformatics would be a plus.
