Role of secondary DNA structures in transcription and chromatin opening at the genome scale
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic postdoc with good knowledge in genome editing and functional genomics. The post-doctoral fellow will join the ‘Transcription and Epigenomics’ group at the IGMM institute. Our team is interested in basal and activated transcription mechanisms as well as the regulation of gene expression through regulatory elements (promoters and enhancers). The IGMM is a french CNRS research unit located in Montpellier and investigating chromatin, cancer, immunology and cell biology. This unit is part of a rich scientific environment composed by various institutes (IRIM, CRBM, CEFE, etc). Several technical platforms (Bioinformatics, proteomics, flow cytometry, imaging, metabolism) are available on the site and within the biocampus platform.
The project aims at understanding the role of G-quadruplex secondary DNA structures and their ligands in the regulation of genome expression in normal and cancerous cells. The post-doctorate fellow will address these questions by using various tools including genome editing (CRISPR) and functional genomics experiments (ChIP-seq, CUT& RUN, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, nucleosome mapping). The applicant should have a PhD in Genetics/Molecular Biology, preferably relating to studies in transcription/chromatin and/or functional genomics. He/she should be experienced with at least one the following fields or techniques: molecular biology and biochemistry, CRISPR and gene editing, transcriptome or chromatin investigations using high-throughput sequencing approaches. Further knowledge in Bioinformatics analyses will be useful for the project but is not compulsory since support is available in the laboratory. The selected applicant will be offered a one year contract renewable for one or two extra years.
