About the DI
The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies seeks applications for faculty candidates (open rank) for its Masters of Social Work Program (MSW). We are looking for social work educators with specialization in community development and clinical social work practice. The appointment will begin September 1, 2019.
Founded in Doha, Qatar and launching its first academic year in 2015, the DI is a non-profit and independent institute that responds to the needs of the Arab region by integrating graduate teaching and learning with scientific research in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration and Development Economics. It offers highly competitive compensation and benefits packages.
The mission of the Social Work Program is “to educate, train, and empower a new generation of professional social work practitioners and researchers, who are prepared to empower and to meet the human needs of people in Qatar, the region, and the Arab World and enhance their quality of life and well-being, with specific attention to those who are poor, vulnerable, and oppressed.”
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in social work or a related field; MSW degree from an accredited social work institution; two or more years post-MSW social work practice; three or more years of teaching graduate-level MSW courses; and demonstrated ability to offer services in diverse communities. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must demonstrate ability to conduct research and publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals. Applicants at the Associate and Professor levels must demonstrate evidence of strong research background and significant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
The successful candidates should be able to teach in two or more substantive areas: social work practice, social work policy, as well as more specialized courses in clinical social work practice, mental health practice, and displaced populations. Candidates also should serve in interdisciplinary teaching, research, and related activities including academic advisement, field education liaison, and supervision of students’ capstone projects.
