The Peripheral Nervous System, Muscle and ALS Department, Pasteur 2 new Hospital, CHU de Nice (France) is actually seeking an Internal Medicine Specialist for a full time Clinical and research position. This department is certified as Neuromuscular Diseases Reference Center and ALS Reference Center. These Centers are affiliated to French rare diseases Healthcare Network (FILNEMUS) and French rare diseases Healthcare Network: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and rare motor neuron diseases (FILSLAN). The Department has also been labeled as being part of the European Reference Networks-NeuroMuscular Diseases (ERN-NMD) as Center of Excellence.
With an active file of more than 2000 patients, the department is particularly involved in diagnosis and multidisciplinary care of patients suffering from myopathies, myasthenia, peripheral neuropathies, ALS and other motoneuron diseases. This activity implies consultations, day and week hospitalizations. The Department is equipped with an electrophysiology platform and an anatomopathology platform to perform the analysis of muscle or nerve biopsies.
The Physicians from the Department are particularly involved in Clinical and Fundamental Research projects in connection with IRCAN from the University of Nice- Sophia Antipolis- Faculty of Medicine, INSERM U1081 – CNRS UMR 7284 and INRIA. We participate in industrial Therapeutic Trials and in many collaborations in the field of e-Health development.
The Department is part of the Pole of Clinical Neurosciences, Central Nervous System department and the Neurovascular Unit which are located in the same Hospital. It contributes to ensure the continuity and constant care of patients suffering from complex neurologic diseases requiring expertise of an Internal Medicine Specialist.
The required skills for application are the following:
Candidates having knowledge and or diploma justifying their expertise in Neuromuscular diseases field (clinical), in managing diseases based on autoimmunity and paraneoplastic, in innovative biological therapeutics will be considered in priority.
Dynamism and willingness of being involved in Research projects will be highly appreciated qualities.
